You don’t always need to start from scratch
Yes, absolutely. We often renovate kitchens and bathrooms without needing to replace everything completely. It’s something we do a lot of here in Christchurch, especially in older homes where the layout still works, but the fittings are looking tired or dated.
Save money, time and materials
This approach can be budget-friendly, eco-conscious, and far less disruptive. Rather than sending tonnes of material to the landfill and starting from scratch, we examine what can be saved and what needs to be replaced. Sometimes it’s as simple as swapping out the benchtop, tiles, or fixtures. At other times, we replace a cabinet carcass or the doors while maintaining the existing layout.
What needs to be checked first?
Of course, it does depend on the condition of the room and what’s underneath. We’ll always start by checking for issues like water damage, dodgy wiring, or layout problems that could cause headaches down the track. If the bones are good, then it makes sense to build on them.
Real experience, local knowledge
We’ve been doing this kind of work across Christchurch since 1939, so we know which shortcuts are worth it – and which aren’t. Whether it’s a rental property that needs a freshen-up or your own home that needs to feel nicer, we’ll help you work out what makes the most sense.
Not sure what’s possible?
If you’re unsure whether a partial renovation will meet your needs, we’re happy to review it and provide you with honest feedback. Not everything needs a full gut out. Sometimes, a clever tweak is all it takes.
