Who does the design?
We don’t do the design work ourselves. Our focus is on building and renovating – making the plans a reality. That said, we work closely with several excellent designers and architects in Christchurch and can direct you to the right person depending on your specific needs.
If it’s a straightforward project, you might only need a draughtsperson or designer to draw up some plans. If you’re doing structural work, significant alterations, or anything that might need council consent, then an architect could be the better call. We can guide you through your options and help you determine which professional would be best suited for your particular job.
Can you recommend someone?
Yes, we absolutely can. We’ve worked with some exceptional designers and architects over the years, and we’re happy to recommend someone we trust who aligns with your budget and style. We’ll also ensure they understand the type of renovation you’re undertaking, so you don’t end up with plans that’re lovely but impractical.
Why not just get a builder to design it?
Some companies do offer in-house design, but we think it’s better to let designers and architects focus on what they’re good at, and let us focus on the building side. That way, you get the benefit of a proper design process, and you don’t run the risk of ending up with something that isn’t quite right.
