Renovations are a bit like opening a can of worms – sometimes, what’s behind the walls isn’t what anyone expected. So, what happens if we find something odd, rotten, or just plain unexpected once we get started?
Step One: We stop and assess
If something crops up – maybe there’s rot behind the gib, or the plumbing’s not where it should be – we’ll pause and figure out exactly what we’re dealing with. We won’t barrel ahead and hope for the best. You’ll always be in the loop.
Step Two: We talk it through
We’ll give you a call (or meet up if that’s easier) and run you through the situation. We’ll let you know what we’ve found, what needs to be done, and why it matters. No jargon, no alarm bells – just a practical chat about your options.
Step Three: We provide a quote variation
We’ll put together a quote variation outlining the cost of the extra work. This isn’t a “take it or leave it” situation – it’s simply a way to show you what’s involved if you decide to go ahead. You can say yes, ask for other options, or decide not to proceed with that part of the work.
Step Four: You’re in control
Once you’ve had time to think it over, we’ll do whatever you choose. If you’re eager to resolve the issue now, we’ll add it to the job and keep things moving forward. If you’d rather hold off, we’ll secure the site and proceed with the rest of the work.
We’re here to help, not cause headaches
At RC Jamieson Builders, we’ve been renovating homes in Christchurch for years, so we know that surprises can happen. The key is good communication, upfront pricing, and empowering you to make informed decisions. It’s your home, after all – we’re just here to help make it better.
